This thread is devoted to Gilmore Girls that ran from 2001-2007

Information from Gilmore Girls Wikipedia Page

Quote
Gilmore Girls is an Emmy Award-winning American comedy-drama series created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel. The series made its debut on The WB on October 5, 2000, and it ended on May 15, 2007 in its seventh season, which aired on The CW.

The show follows single mother Lorelai Victoria Gilmore (Graham) and her daughter Lorelai "Rory" Leigh Gilmore (Bledel) in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, a close-knit small town with many quirky characters, located roughly thirty minutes from Hartford. The series explores family, friendship, generational divides, and social class.

Gilmore Girls features intricate, extremely fast-paced dialogue, with frequent popular-culture references and allusions to politics and high culture. It also features social commentary, which is manifest most clearly in Lorelai's difficult relationship with her wealthy upper class parents.

I thought Rory had to work so hard to catch up because she was coming in during the middle of the semester. My experience with a school like Chilton is that generally you do begin the application process a year or two before you get in, if you get in. IIRC, Rory was only let in because of a last minute availability. I had assumed that meant that Rory had been on a waiting list for some time and her name had finally gotten to the top, not that Lorelai had just put in Rory's application. In terms of a scholarship or financial aid, I got the impression it was simply not available at Chilton, because Rory was there three years and it was never discussed. I would figure if there would have been a way for Lorelai to lighten the load of her debt to her parents, through a scholarship or something else, she would have tried for it.

I like The Gilmore Girls but I am not sure why. The mother, named Lorelai (Lauren Graham), and the daughter, named Rory (short for Lorelai, played by Alexis Bledel), are both very beautiful women, they are both funny and they are charming in their own ways. There are some funny supporting characters, such as Luke (Scott Patterson). He and Lorelai like each, may be even love each other, but neither of them really acts on it. They have their little moments. There are some other supporting characters, most of them very funny, and with their won touching moments.Alias DVD Complete Series Collection Box Set

What I like the most I think is to see the relationship between the young mother and the daughter who is becoming an adult. The dialogue between them is quick, sharp, funny and sometimes touching as well. The band they have is beautiful. The Gilmore Girls makes you feel good so try it.
